What does the Quran say about going through a hard time?

Alim

Surah Ash-Sharh answers this directly, and says it twice:

﴿فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا﴾

“So, undoubtedly, along with the hardship there is ease.” (Quran 94:5)

Verse 6 repeats it. Ma’ariful Qur’an explains that “the hardship” is repeated with the definite article and “ease” without it, so one hardship is met by many kinds of ease.

  • Quran 94:5–6 · Mufti Taqi Usmani
  • Ma’ariful Qur’an · Surah Ash-Sharh

Why not just ask a general AI?

General chatbots are built to answer everything. Quran Chat is built for one thing: answering from the Quran and its tafsir, in a way you can check.

Where answers come from

General AI:Whatever it picked up from the internet, mixed together.

Quran Chat:The Quran in Mufti Taqi Usmani’s translation, the tafsir Ma’ariful Qur’an, and the hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim: 43,768 passages, looked up before every answer.

Verse references

General AI:Can cite verses from memory, sometimes ones that don’t say what it claims.

Quran Chat:Names the surah and verse, or the hadith, it relies on, and every reference is checked against the sources it was actually given.

Hadith

General AI:Can quote a hadith from memory, sometimes with the wrong collection or a number that does not exist.

Quran Chat:Answers from Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, says when something is a hadith, and names the collection and number; a hadith citation it was not given is removed.

Arabic text

General AI:Retypes Arabic from memory, letter slips and all.

Quran Chat:Quotes Arabic copied letter for letter from Tanzil’s Uthmani text of all 6,236 verses; anything that doesn’t match is corrected or removed.

Personal rulings

General AI:Can hand you a confident yes or no.

Quran Chat:Shows what the sources say and points you to a qualified scholar for your own situation.

Hard moments

General AI:A generic reply.

Quran Chat:Gentle words, verses of hope, and a clear pointer to real help.

Your messages

General AI:Sent to a large AI company’s servers.

Quran Chat:Answered by our own fine-tuned open-source model on our own hardware, not sent to a third-party AI provider.

Price

General AI:Free tiers that push you to upgrade.

Quran Chat:Free: 20 messages a day, nothing to buy, nothing unlocked by paying.

And unlike a Quran reading app, you don’t have to know where to look: ask your question in your own words and get the verses that answer it, with their explanation.

Two assistants, one set of sources

Pick the tone that suits the moment. Both draw on the same translation and tafsir.

Alim

Clear, direct, referenced

For when you want a straight answer with the verses behind it, and the surah and verse to look them up.

Try asking

  • “What does the Quran say about patience?”
  • “Explain Ayat al-Kursi verse by verse”
  • “Which verses talk about honesty in trade?”
Chat with Alim

Nur

Gentle and reflective

For when you want to talk something through, slowly, with verses that speak to where you are.

Try asking

  • “I feel far from Allah lately”
  • “Help me reflect on gratitude”
  • “How do I keep going after a loss?”

Answers you can check

Quran Chat shows its sources, so you do not have to take an answer on trust.

Trusted sources

Answers draw on the Mufti Taqi Usmani translation of the Quran, the Ma'ariful Qur'an tafsir, and the hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, not on whatever an AI happens to remember.

Citations, checked

Answers name the surah and verse they rely on, and those citations are checked, so you can open your mushaf and read them in context.

Exact Arabic

Arabic verses are quoted in the exact Uthmani text of the Tanzil Project, letter for letter. Source: tanzil.net.

Honest about limits

Ask for a personal ruling and you get the sources plus advice to ask a qualified scholar. If you are struggling, you get verses of hope and a pointer to help.

How is Quran Chat different from ChatGPT or other AI chatbots?

A general chatbot answers from whatever it learned online. Quran Chat looks up the Quran in Mufti Taqi Usmani’s translation, the tafsir Ma’ariful Qur’an and the hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim before every answer, names the verses and hadith it uses, checks those references, and quotes Arabic exactly from the Uthmani text. It does not give personal rulings, and it runs on our own fine-tuned open-source model, so your messages are not sent to a third-party AI provider.

Is Quran Chat free?

Yes. There is nothing to buy and no paid plan. Sign in with Google and you get 20 messages a day per account.

What happens after 20 messages?

Chat pauses until your allowance resets the next day. Your saved chats stay in your account, ready when you come back.

Do I need an account?

Who are Alim and Nur?

The two assistants in Quran Chat. Alim gives clear, direct, referenced answers. Nur is gentle and reflective, for when you want to talk something through. Both draw on the same sources.

Where do the answers come from?

From the Mufti Taqi Usmani translation of the Quran, the Ma'ariful Qur'an tafsir, and the hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. Arabic verses are quoted in the exact Uthmani text of the Tanzil Project, and citations are checked. AI can still make mistakes, so check anything important.

Read the AI disclaimer

Which languages does it work in?

Quran Chat is optimised for English. You can write in other languages, but answers in them are less reliable.

Can I ask for a fatwa or a personal ruling?

Quran Chat is a learning tool, not a mufti. If you ask for a personal ruling, you get the relevant sources and the advice to ask a qualified scholar who knows your situation.

Are my chats private?

Your chats are saved to your account so you can come back to them. Answers come from Quran Chat's own AI setup. It runs on the operator's own hardware, and our current practice is not to send user messages to third-party AI providers. We do not sell your personal data.
